A Wedding Fit For a Fairy Tale

Have you ever met a couple that you instantly know are going to be together forever? You know, the kind of couple that look at each other and have a whole conversation without saying a word. The kind that has sparks flying all around them and you can’t help but be drawn to the magic. This was the very relationship of my last bride and groom, Amy and Dallas.

When I first met Dallas and Amy I knew within a few moments that I was going to love working with them. Amy was organized, knew what she wanted and was so full of life. Dallas was a little more quiet but was very involved throughout the entire process. He too is a details person and wanted the day to be perfect. It’s refreshing to have a bride and groom with equal input about their wedding day. As much as we like to say the day is all about the bride it’s just as much the groom’s happily ever after too!

The day of the wedding arrived and of course, Amy and her girls arrived right on time and ready to get the days events started. Amy was excited but also a little sad that the day she had been eagerly anticipating was already rushing by too quickly. I told her to enjoy every single moment and take it all in. Be a bride! Soon thereafter the hair and make-up process began- as did the mimosas!

Meanwhile, my assistant and I started setting up the reception space. Amy chose a color scheme of gold, burgundy, greenery and pops of ivory. It was the most beautiful color combination for their venue- The Springs. Vendors were arriving one after another and everything was tying together seamlessly. Though, I expected nothing less. Between Amy’s impeccable organization, the top-notch vendors she chose and my touch of wedding OCD it was sure to look exceptional. Tasha of TK Wedding & Event Decor did a fabulous job creating the variety of table centerpieces. They were absolutely beautiful and created such a romantic environment. My favorite addition had to be the customized Coca-Cola bottles at each place setting. While adding drama to the tables the bottles also provided a personalized element that was unique to Amy and Dallas. The guests adored them and it created great table conversations at the reception.

The groomsmen arrived and quickly grew accustomed to the cozy grooms suite. They had quite the hook-up with their large flat screen television, bathroom, pool table and  cold drinks. Dallas is quite the golfer and, as expected, golf was on the television throughout the day. They were such a fun group of guys and showed off their personalities with the decorative socks they chose for the wedding day!

The wedding party began taking pre-ceremony pictures with the ever talented photographers of Stapleton Photography. You could tell they were having way too much fun. For me, this is the point of the day where I scour the venue looking for any details that need to be fixed and/or completed. While walking around, Dallas approached me and asked a few questions. He asked if Amy was still okay? If there was anything she needed? If she was happy with how everything was turning out and if she was nervous or excited? For me, it was one of the sweetest and most heartfelt acts of the whole day. The genuine love and respect he has for Amy is the kind all love all brides dream about in their future husband. Amy and Dallas chose to express their love by writing wedding day letters to each other. Surrounded by their closest friends and parents, they read the letters. I can assure you, their certainly wasn’t any dry eyes left in the room.

After a year of planning, it was time for Amy to walk down the aisle. Standing proudly in front of lake Skiatook, Pastor Chris, Dallas and the groomsmen watched each bridesmaid walk over the bridge and down the long aisle to their designated spots. The bride and her father anxiously awaited behind the cast iron doors. It was finally time. The doors opened and the guests were in awe when they saw the bride. Amy looked absolutely radiant. Dallas must have agreed too since he shed a few tears during Amy’s walk down the aisle. The ceremony was heartfelt, full of love and blessed by God. They did it! Finally, the Lee and Barnes Merger was complete!

The reception started shortly thereafter.  The first dance was a perfectly choreographed. The blessing of the dinner by the Amy’s father was sincere. The dinner provided by Silver Dollar Catering was absolutely divine. The speeches by the best man and two maid of honors were entertaining and heartfelt and the four-tiered cake by Ann’s Bakery was a stunning. Speaking of cake, the bride and groom wanted to do something unique over the traditional dollar dance so they did a “Who Takes The Cake” competition. Guests were asked to put money in a jar for the bride or for the groom. Whoever collected the most money received a face full of cake. Dallas “won” this challenge and Amy gave him a good, but nice, cake smash.

The rest of the evenings events unfolded with upbeat music provided by Lions Road Studios, sweet dance moves, laughter, glow sticks and pictures in the Route 66 photo booth. The bride and groom even had paper faces made so they could be a part of all the fun pictures.

Around 10:30 p.m. the DJ informed the guests it was time for the bride and groom to have their last dance. The guests lined the outdoor entrance holding personalized foam glow sticks, multi-colored necklaces and neon bracelets. When the DJ announced the exit of the newest couple the guests waved their lit wands enthusiastically as Dallas and Amy ran through to their get-away car. They left the reception and were off to began their happily ever after!

No, literally, this isn’t a cliche. They literally left for Disney world – the happiest place on earth! After the first few days of their enchanting time at Disney they relaxed under the Jamaican sun at the all-inclusive Sandals Royal Bahamian resort! Talk about a fantastic ending to an amazing wedding. Dallas and Amy are now back state side and are continuing to live their dream come true!!
